Rolling Hills BAPTISMS, FUNERALS & WEDDINGS

Baptisms
The Sacrament of Baptism is one of two sacraments in the baptismPresbyterian Church U.S.A. (the other being Communion). In Baptism, the church is reminded of God’s saving grace and divine promises upon adults and children. In addition, during the Service of Baptism, parents presenting their child make promises to raise the child in the ways of Christ and the congregation promises to be faithful in assisting this child and all of God’s children to know, follow, and love the Lord Christ. Baptisms are scheduled through the church office and occur during one of our worship services on Sunday mornings. The minister officiating the baptism typically meets with the parents and infant or individual being baptized in person the week prior to the worship service. One of the ministers from Rolling Hills presides during the service. The family may request that a guest minister be asked to assist with the service. The request to the guest minister should be made by the presiding minister.

Funerals
Memorial Services at Rolling Hills are a witness to the resurrection. The services are scheduled by contacting the church office. Often local funeral homes work in relationship with Rolling Hills and the family helping to plan and coordinate services, print bulletins and transport flowers. Some families choose not to have funeral homes participate and the church provides volunteer greeters/ushers and can print simple service bulletins for families. We are able to provide an organist and vocalist on a fee basis. Our Deacons are able to host receptions in the Fireside Room and serve cookies and punch following a memorial service. We welcome photo displays in the narthex and Fireside Room; however, photographs and video presentations are not typically used in the sanctuary. One of the ministers from Rolling Hills presides during the service. The family may request that a guest minister be asked to assist with the service. The request to the guest minister should be made by the presiding minister.

Weddingsweddings
A wedding is a joyous and meaningful service of worship at Rolling Hills Presbyterian Church. Weddings are normally scheduled on Saturday. A rehearsal of the service is required and generally occurs the evening prior to the wedding.

When a couple comes before God and commits themselves to one another, it is a significant event in their lives and the lives of the people who love them. Because we believe marriage is a both a spiritual and a legal commitment, couples who desire to be married at Rolling Hills will be expected to undergo a course of preparation before the service, and a six month review following the service. These conversations are designed to help the couple and pastor become acquainted, help the couple explore their relationship, and plan the service.
